Ho hum... BELLE & SEBASTIAN!

Ok, so the last entry didn't work at all... It's not your computer Nix! Don't know exactly what went wrong, but I will search deep into the dusty, almost non-existant regions of my computer knowledge and fix it. When I can be bothered.

I'm listening to Belle & Sebastian - Piazza, New York Catcher. Well, I was, but now it's Incubus... Right, B&S is back on. I am curious, how many Belle fans are there out there? If you are reading this and you are a fan, I DEMAND you leave a message! And if you have never heard of them, leave a message too please. I want to know how loved they are!
Also, I know someone who thinks I'm A Cuckoo is NOT A HAPPY SONG! I won't name names, but he knows who he is. If you disagree, please leave a message and prove me/Andy/Iona right :)

Today I cycled to the town belonging to Philip, whoever Philip may be. There I met Ionanana, and we climbed the bings, then a bit later I cycled home again. So today I feel like a super fit and healthy type person!

Oooh. For all of you who watch BB, this might interest you: http://www.faceparty.com/member_profile.asp?member_id=696513&member_name=lesley_luvz_u&acstr=Z278AE47  I noticed that for her audition she said her favourite book was "A Child Called It", but if you look at "Favourite Author" on the link it's ever so slightly different... And you may be interested to know that the bedcovers are from MATALAN! Seriously! I have a bag that is almost exactly the same pattern, and it's Tom Wolfe. Not Matalan.

And heres a marquee, just to make sure the HTML works ok... (EDIT: ITS NOT FLUFFING WORKING WHY WHY WHY????????  )

IF THIS ISN'T FLUFFING WELL MOVING THEN IT'S NOT WORKING

Well Jenny, tis a fair point, however I understand it to mean that the writer is trying to get over the break-up, and tries to look at life in a positive way, and puts on a happy face (hence the happy melody, uplifting voice etc.) when he is actually emotionally scarred and deeply hurt on the inside ('this hurt is poison'). The uplifting melody represents how he pretends to feel, and the lyrics show how he really feels. And so, the writer is really not happy and the song was written in an ironically unhappy way, the 'hapiness' is false, hence it is not a feel-good song. I'm afraid i still side with the previously un-named Zander

Andy! You named the un-named being! Now he is no longer un-named! What if there is a rampage of angry B&S fans who try to mow him down?

ACTUALLY, if you listen, the song is about him getting over a breakup. True, some of the lyrics may not come across as traditionally happy, but think about this. If those lyrics were used in an emo song, of course they would be depressing, as it would make the lyrics fitting and sound true. Whereas here, they are combined with an uber-happy melody and that ever so uplifting guitar riff, they come across as hopeful, with an almost satirical or ironic feel. Add to that Stevie's lilting and uplifting angelic voice, and what do you get? A happy, inspiring, and FEEL GOOD song.
Worm your way out of that one!

Sorry, I'd love to agree with u about 'I'm a cuckoo', but lines like 'this hurt is poison', 'breaking off is misery' and 'feeling sorry for myself' do not belong to a happy song. I have to side with the un-named being
